So you decided to press on and start your own Business!! Congratulations, excellent choice. So you’re gonna need a website. A website is essential in today’s market. Maybe you don’t agree, but I must say, whenever I’m deciding on a business to choose from, say for example, Im looking for a local chimney sweep to service my chimney, I immediately look if they have a website. If they don’t have a website, they’re out. I then look at their reviews, and then I look at the three companies that have the best reviews, and out of those three, whoever has the best website wins!! So do yourself a favor and build a website, a really good one!!
So, which website builder and domain name service should you use for your Business? I’ve used six website building companies over the years, and I can honestly say, without a doubt, that the best company for you to use is…well you’ll just have to read on, won’t you.
-Godaddy…You all know the name. It’s the Walmart of website building companies. I must admit when I was a naive entrepreneur, and was looking for a website building company, they were the first company that popped up on my Google search, so I thought they must be good. Plus Danica Patrick was sponsored by them, so another bonus. I didn’t use them then, but fast forward to 2020. I decided to give them a try, just for a website building company, and it was a rather good experience. Godaddy did have excellent customer service, super easy templates were provided to use, and it still is the best domain name service in the game. On the other hand, there was no SSL provided, and they kind of kept that hush hush, there’s also not a lot you can do with their templates, what you see is what you get, and don’t even think of using this company as a hosting company for wordpress, just don’t!!
-Wix…should be called Fix, cause they’ve got some fixin to do. The pc platform would never coordinate properly with the mobile platform, so if you made a change through Wix on the PC portion of your website, good luck having that change look precise on your mobile. Super frustrating and time consuming. I must say though, Wix is super easy to navigate through for beginners and the customer service was super friendly. Thank God, cause I called them a lot.
-Squarespace…a sleek website provider, but not worth the price tag, and definitely not for a website building rookie. The Graphix interface is kind of bland as well but if you’re looking for a minimalistic website and you know what you’re doing, squarespace is smooth sailing.
-Weebly…one of my favorite Website building providers. Weebly gives you so much creative freedom and technical freedom as well. It’s perfect for beginners but if you want to go to the next level and learn to code, its great as well. I had so much fun with this site. Customer service was always pleasant and they’re on the cheaper side as well. They also recently purchased Square which is super convenient if youre selling items or services on your website. The only downfall with Weebly, is when I completed my website, my final product looked a tad generic as far as websites go.
-Wordpress…if there’s a website King, wordpress is King Arthur. I guess that’s why they took over the website building land. There is so much design and technical freedom on WordPress, and it’s free. WordPress’s finished products look better than anything I’ve ever seen. It’s unbelievable. The downside is it’s super technical and definitely not for the technically challenged. Also since it’s free, there’s times when things will break down within your website out of the blue. It’s true, sometimes you do get what you pay for.
-Shopify…not a bad experience, but this company is mostly tailored for E-commerce business’s, so if E-commerce isn’t your thing, then this is not where you want to be. On the other hand, if you’re in the E-commerce biz, then this is the place for you. The custom templates are incredible and you don’t have to be a computer wiz to use this service. The only disadvantage is they’ve sort of monopolized the E-commerce website game, so it is a little pricey.
So there you have it, six places you can go to build your website. Can you guess who I chose? Anyone, anyone, Bueller? Bueller? That’s right Simone, WordPress all day. Trust me, use your free resources to learn how to build a site using WordPress, and you will not be disappointed. Your website will blow your competitions website’s out of the water. In life, love your neighbor, in business, use wordpress to help improve your business so you can crush your competition.
Btw you’ll never fail, if you detail.
